VFL/AFL LEGEND - DAVID RHYS-JONES

A$80.00

You think I’m going to bang on about Rhys-Jones’ long list of indiscretions on the field, as well as his many rendezvous with the tribunal, well you’re wrong. I’m going to describe to you a player who gave everything to his side, who was immensely talented and who impacted his teams’ fortunes when it mattered the most. David Rhys-Jones was a talented football who played in a period of football history where on field justice was swift, violent and spontaneous. He had skills that were hard to contain, he was versatile in that he was able to be deployed as an attacking weapon who had flare, but was also a disciplined and dour defender who could nullify the oppositions’ dangerous assets. This was on full display when he played the game of his career in the 1987 Grand Final, when he left his opponent, Dermott Brereton, completely ineffectual. A true cult hero of the Carlton Football Club, my drawing of “The Hyphen” sees him celebrating the moment he received the Norm Smith Medal, and sits alongside a list of his career highlights.

PAPER TYPE - Printed on beautiful 330gsm Ilford Galerie Lustre Photo Duo.

PAPER SIZE - A2 42 x 59.4cm (16.5 x 23.4”)
